Dear Seed Investor, | |

Sow
a Seed into the Life of a Single Mother and Watch her Family
Bloom! | |
What if a homeless mother could receive 'free' employment
and technology skills training to secure a livable wage career
to lift her family out of poverty? Priscilla, a single
mother of five received free training through Virtuous
Enterprises, Inc. (VEINC) Mobile Employment and Technology
Training program - an innovative program that provides onsite
workforce development and technology skills training to
homeless women in the Washington region. Priscilla is
currently employed in the federal government and now resides
in Charles County, Maryland with her family, and Priscilla is
an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) candidate through
our Education-2-Go program.
Studies show programs directed at educating women
and girls yield a higher rate of return than any other
community investment. When women are equipped
to meet and manage the needs of their families, their
children become equipped to integrate into society as
productive citizens. Productive citizens create
vibrant communities. Vibrant communities can create a
vibrant society, and a vibrant society creates a
vibrant nation!

Some
of the aforementioned services have been identified by the
Obama Administration as effective strategies to
break barriers to enter or advance in the workplace. And,
with your help, VEINC's capacity can be expanded to build
stronger families headed by single mothers through our
training and development programs.
According to A
Portrait of Women and Girls of the Washington Metropolitan
Area - a groundbreaking report developed by
the Washington Area Women's Foundation, women-led families
make up 58% of families living in poverty in our region.
In Prince George's County, Maryland, they represent 59% of all
families in poverty. And, Prince George's County has the
2nd highest unemployment rate for women in the Washington
region.
Since 2000, VEINC has provided educational opportunities
and resources to transition women-led families to economic
independence and stability. As a former member of a
low-income family headed by a single mother in Prince George's
County, I know first hand the importance to invest in
women-headed families to impact our communities. My work
and passion through VEINC is the result of personal and
community investors like you, and I look forward to your
investment and partnership to strengthen and extend our
work!
